Audrey in London...GIVENCHY

A chance of a lifetime!

Auction: Tuesday, December 8th 2009 at 2pm
Venue: La Galleria, Royal Opera Arcade, Pall Mall, London
Exhibition: Sunday 6th December 12 noon - 5pm
Monday 7th December 9.30am - 5pm
Tuesday 8th December 9.30am- noon

Audrey Hepburn was indisputably one of the most elegant and beautiful women of the 20th century. She shared her love of beautiful clothes with a close family friend to whom over the years, she gave many pieces from her exquisite couture wardrobe. They have remained in her friend’s personal collection until this time. Audrey pieces rarely come onto the market and this is the largest and most important group ever to be offered at auction.
As one might expect the collection includes stunning evening-wear including a plethora of chic little black dresses by Valentino, Elizabeth Arden (she wore this gown when she met her first husband Mel Ferrer in 1953) and of course her favourite designer of all – Hubert de Givenchy. He created a black cloque silk gown for Audrey to wear for the film “Paris When it Sizzles” in 1962 (£10-15,000) a sensational Chantilly lace cocktail gown which she wore in the “How to Steal a Million” in 1966 (£8-12000) which are both included in the auction. There are thirty six items of clothing on offer dating from 1953 to the late 60s as well as hats, belts and a fascinating group of letters from Audrey in which she describes an early film break, her proposed wedding to James Hanson and the time she spent filming “Roman Holiday”.

Kerry Taylor Auctions Marit Allen Wardrobe

Auction: Tuesday 15th September at 10.30am

Marit’s personal wardrobe from the 1960s-1990s is included in this auction and these designers and photographers are well represented. The clothes range from the John Bates futuristic silver vinyl and white cotton wedding ensemble she wore when she married film producer Sandy Lieberson in 1966, through the hippy chic 70s (her three children were also dressed in the latest Biba fashions see lot 43) to Alaia of the 80s and Jean Paul Gaultier, Comme des Garcons and Prada of the 90s. The latter part of the auction is devoted to costume, accessories, fabrics and trimmings used and collected for her second career as film costume designer. There is also an extensive library of dress-related and photographic books which are useful to both fashion historians, costumiers and film buffs alike.

Here are two of my personal favorites a reasonably priced Kansai Yamamoto top (Lot 22) and an extraordinary Bill Gibb ensemble (Lot 25) which is a must have for any collector.

A full online catalog of this amazing and diverse collection can be found at www.kerrytaylorauctions.com

You may also contact me directly if you have any vintage or modern pieces that you would like to have considered for major textile and clothing auctions.

Fashionable Fall Color Chanel Jade Barry M Mint

Green is the new black this fall. As I'm sure most of you know Chanel will be launching their new color Jade in October. This exciting new color was seen on the Chanel Fall 09 runway and if Monsieur Lagerfeld has his way it will become the new Vamp. (Ah I love that color!)

If you can't wait until next month you may want to try Mint Green by Barry M.
I have a bottle still tucked away in the suitcase that I haven't unpacked yet. My friend Suzanne and fellow fashionista and blogger from ideefixemon.blogspot.com was wearing it when we met in London this summer so I just had to be a copycat and buy the same.

Hmmm..I can't wait to see if the french women jump on this trend since from what I've seen here most don't wear nailpolish and it is a rare to see someone with any color other than the traditional nudes or red for a special occasion so stay tuned!
